Rhythm in Your Bones' twin composition for the Jazz Orchestra / by Beth Beauchamp

Rhythm in Your Bones' twin composition for the Jazz Orchestra, Rhythm JOnes, employs the same essential material, but with an entirely different scoring. I will conduct that premiere in the opening half of the Longhorn Jazz  Festival evening concert in Bates Auditorium.

The second half of the concert features this year's guest artist -- the one and only Jeff "Tain" Watts on drums. Tain is responsible for a rhythmically groundbreaking treatment of Autumn Leaves, made famous in tandem with Wynton Marsalis on Standard Time Vol. 1. I wrote a corresponding big band arrangement to feature brother Delfeayo Marsalis with the UT Jazz Orchestra many years ago and have updated my chart for this concert with Tain.
